Faith is the belief that what God has promised, He will do. It is knowing that the future God has promised will come to pass. In fact, faith is required for our participation in that future. We won’t get out of this life without faith.
Our journey of faith toward God begins with repentance and our faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that His death as payment for our sins makes possible our relationship with God the Father. That belief begins the process of humanity’s return to a relationship with God and the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Faith is a gift from God. Once a person has heard the gospel message and acts on it by repenting and being baptized, they then receive God’s Holy Spirit as a gift, as we read in Acts 2:38. Then God gives to that person the faith of Jesus Christ that will grow as we convert our thoughts and behavior to take on God’s likeness as He intended from the beginning in the Garden of Eden.
